This resource aims to provide new teaching staff with an overview of learning technologies and access to key resources such as policies, guidelines, user guides and support for London Met specific use.

Learning Technologies at London Met
London Met uses Weblearn as the institutional VLE which is based on Blackboard Learn. It provides access to Blackboard tools, online assessment options and integrated learning technologies.
The learning technologies which are integrated with Weblearn are:
- Blackboard Ally: the accessibility tool that will gauge the accessibility of content on Weblearn and assist in making content more accessible
- Panopto: the video platform used for lecture recording, creating video content and video assessments
- Microsoft Education (including Teams Meetings): the web conferencing and collaboration tool
- PebblePad: only available for specific practiced based courses
- Reading Lists (Talis): the online reading list tool available in all teaching modules
- Turnitin: online submission of word-based files
Other learning technologies which are available include:
- Mentimeter: interactive presentation software including polls, word clouds, quizzes, multiple-choice questions and more
- Padlet: an online post it wall used for sharing and collaboration
Training and Support

Induction Sessions for Weblearn (Blackboard):
Induction sessions are usually scheduled around the start of each teaching period. If there are no induction sessions scheduled, please contact Weblearn Support to arrange a session.

All contact details to get support for Weblearn and other learning technologies are available on the Institution page when you log into Weblearn. You can get support by:
- Sending an email to our support email address (see Institution page)
- Logging a call via the IT Support Portal
- Attending an Online Office Hour for Weblearn and online submission support

About Weblearn
Weblearn is based on the Blackboard Learn and provides access to online learning resources and assessment to London Met students.
Weblearn can be accessed via ‘Quick links’ on the Staff Zone or directly at bblearn.londonmet.ac.uk
Before a new member of staff can access Weblearn and start working on their modules, they need to
- request a Weblearn staff account
- request staff access to the module(s) they are teaching
Weblearn accounts
Students accounts are automatically created and students will get access to their teaching modules one week prior to the start of teaching.
Staff accounts are not created automatically and must be requested by the member of staff or their line manager.

Modules on Weblearn
All teaching modules are automatically created for each academic year and period based on data from our student records system (SITS).
Modules are set up from a template and staff must follow the template guidance to create content for their Weblearn module.

Access to Weblearn Modules
Students are automatically added to modules based on their module registration data on SITS. Modules will become automatically available to students one week before the start of teaching.
Staff must request access to each module instance they deliver for the current academic year and relevant period, eg 2025/26 SEM2.

Online Assessment
The online submission guidelines set out requirements on how to create and manage online submission points on Weblearn for summative assessments.
There are a number of different online assessment tools available and you need to make sure that the tool selected is appropriate for the assessment type.
Mark entry and External Examiners
All grades added to Weblearn are provisional and confirmed marks need to be manually entered into Evision.

External Examiners need to be provided with Digital Packs of sample submissions once marking is completed. Registry will provide access to a Share Point site to the Module Leader to add submissions and feedback examples downloaded from Weblearn.
