Blackboard is introducing a new Content Editor. An early ‘Beta’ version of the content editor will become available in August, the full replacement of the current content editor is expected by Jan 2027.
Beta version for documents
The new content editor beta version will only be available for documents at first.
Users can choose whether they want to use the new or old version of the Editor to create new content blocks on a document.
What is new?
Simplified Toolbar
The toolbar has been simplified to show icons for most commonly used functions. Any additional functions can be accessed from the menus.
Embedded tools previously available from the plus (+) button have been moved under the ‘Insert’ menu.
Responsive: The toolbar is now fully responsive and to make it easier to edit content on small devises.
Improved Tables
Tables are easier to edit and columns can now be set to different widths.
Formatting options
The new Content Editor includes additional formatting options for lists and embedded code snippets or blocks.
